Hill Believes The UFC Has It’s Own “Cute Fighter” Division

UFC strawweight contender Angela Hill

UFC strawweight Angela Hill believes there are two different divisions within the UFC’s 115-pound division. Hill thinks there is a separate weight class within the strawweight division dedicated to “cute” fighters.

“I think there’s definitely two different weight classes in the strawweight division,” Hill said on The MMA Hour. “There’s a few floaters, there’s a few people who are in both. There are people who are there to fight and look professional when they fight and then there’s the people who are there to look cute. I think Felice and Grasso actually float between both groups. But the ones that are there to mainly look cute, they get top billing.

“Everyone knows who’s in those categories. Look at (Paige) VanZant. She headlined maybe two or three events. And she’s lost to the same people that I’ve lost to. It’s strange that you would keep headlining someone unless that was going on. There’s two different types. They’re bringing in one to bring the eyes in, but then the other to still look like a legitimate weight class.”

Hill is the current Invicta strawweight champion. She is making her return to the UFC on Saturday when she fights top contender Jessica Andrade in Houston, Texas. This is a pivotal fight in the UFC strawweight division with major title implications. The winner of the fight could easily be next in line to fight UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
