“The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung was full of emotions following his victory on Saturday.
The UFC’s annual SuperBowl weekend event took place on Feb. 4. Jung returned after over three years away from the sport to headline the event. He jumped right into the deep end of the division when he fought Dennis Bermudez.
Jung took less than one round to knockout Bermudez at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
Following his win, Jung was overjoyed with excitement. He gave UFC commentator Brian Stann a hug before the start of his post-fight interview.
“From my time away from the game, one of the things I was practicing the most was my wrestling as well as my footwork,” Jung’s translator said. “Footwork didn’t work out so well.”
Even though Jung won in the first round, the fight was full of excitement. Bermudez was able to land powerful strikes that stunned “The Korean Zombie.”
Jung ended his fight sharing some inspirational words to his native country of South Korea.
“These days the situation in Korea is not great for a lot of people,” Jung’s translator said. “Morale is low. He wishes the country to be strong and to be living in harmony.”
