On Saturday, at Bellator 172, MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko was scheduled to make his Bellator debut when he fought Matt Mitrione in the main event.
However, just hours before the fight was supposed to take place, Mitrione was forced to withdraw from the fight due to kidney stones.

Bellator 172 took place at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. With Emelianenko vs. Mitrione canceled, the new main event was a pivotal fight between Josh Thomson and Patricky “Pitbull” Freire. “Pitbull” picked up the biggest win of his MMA career when he knocked out Thomson in the second round.
