Nick Diaz and marijuana go hand-in-hand.
The embattled UFC star and Strikeforce welterweight champion’s been suspended three times for cannabis use and dodged a drug test 2009 by the state of California before he was scheduled to fight Jay Hieron. He was subsequently dropped from the fight.
Diaz’s stated in the past that smoking cannabis helped him combat the pain from training for a fight.
Now, Diaz is taking his cannabis use to the mainstream.
Diaz partnered up with Futurola which makes rolling paper. During the commercial, the Stockton, CA is smoking a gigantic blunt.
Wonder how the UFC and USADA feel about a top star in the sport endorsing and smoking cannabis. UFC president Dana White revealed last week that Diaz was recently offered a fight and turned it down. Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley has claimed a Diaz fight was proposed and the latter turned it down.
Diaz hasn’t fought since his UFC 183 fight in Jan. 2015 against Anderson Silva where he lost by unanimous decision. He was originally suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission for five years for his third failed test after the fight but was brought down to 18 years. Diaz’s suspension ended Aug. 1 and is eligible to fight. It is just of matter of who and when.
