Cody “No Love” Garbrandt may have walked into the octagon at “UFC 207” as the underdog to Dominick Cruz, but he knew all along what he was capable of. Garbrandt fought as close to a perfect fight as you can against Cruz and knocked the champion down several times before getting his hand raised in a unanimous decision victory. With the belt now around his waist, Garbrandt can confidently say that he “broke” Cruz.
Cruz had been unstoppable in fights prior to “UFC 207”, not suffering defeat since his loss to Urijah Faber in 2007. Garbrandt had talked trash before the fight, but it was clear he believed he was inside Dominick’s head during the fight as well.
“I was very surprised with Dominick, all the [expletive] talking he did. What he said he was gonna do to me, he wasn’t able to do that, so I was just waiting for him to get the rematch”
“I feel like Dominick doesn’t [have a fighter’s heart]. I think I broke Dominick in that fight and truly don’t think Dominick will be the same.”
