ONE’s Ev Ting Wants Title Shot After His Next Fight

ONE’s Ev Ting wants a title shot if he beats Kamal Shalorus in his next fight.

Ting will fight Shalorus in the main event of ONE Championship: Throne of Tigers on Feb. 10 in Ting’s home country of Malaysia.

Ting mentioned his title aspirations while talking about his journey as a fighter for ONE.

“Now I am on a winning streak and I am one fight away from a title shot,” Ting said. “So yeah, it was a rough and fast start here in Asia, but I am glad I am on the positive end of it.”

Despite already having an eye on a title opportunity, Ting is not overlooking his next fight.

“Obviously, I want to leave a strong statement and have a really good performance,” Ting said. “But I have to go in there, be careful, be cautious, and take it as it comes. It is no secret I am coming in with my best sprawl-and-brawl game, and it is a matter of hitting him without getting hit or taken down.”

Ting is currently on a three-fight win streak in ONE. He is moving up from the featherweight division to the lightweight division to fight his highest profiled opponent to date.

Shalorus is a WEC and UFC veteran. He was unbeaten in four fights in the WEC before joining the UFC. In the UFC, Shalorus lost three fights before leaving the promotion. He fought three of the best lightweight the UFC has to offer, Jim Miller, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Rafael dos Anjos.

Ting did not mention which title he hopes to fight for. His last loss came against undefeated ONE Featherweight Champion Marat Gafurov in 2015. Ting may also pursue the newly crowned ONE Lightweight Champion Eduard Folayang, who is scheduled to headline a ONE event on April 21 but has yet to receive an opponent.
