Another day, another fighter leaving the UFC.
MMAFighting.com is reporting the UFC has decided to not renew the contract of Thiago Tavares. In conjunction with the move, the featherweight signed a multi-fight deal with Brazilian promotion Aspera FC where he will fight Feb. 18 against Mauricio Machado.
Tavares (20-7-1) fought 18 times in the premiere MMA organization, compiling a 10-7-1 record. He fought the likes of Clay Guida, Brian Ortega, Manny Gamburyan and UFC 209 interim lightweight title challenger, Khabib Nurmagomedov. The Brazilian went 2-2 in those fights.
Aspera FC 49, scheduled to the place at Balnearo Camburiu, Brazil.
This is fourth fighter this week who are no longer in the promotion as Lorenz Larkin, Misha Cirkunov, and Rick Story have all been removed from the UFC rankings which makes one assume they are no longer in the promotion.
