Former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks has a long history of problems making weight at 170, but shouldn’t be experiencing any of these issues in his new home at 185lbs. Hendricks has always been a very large welterweight and although he’s worked with several of the top nutritionists in the sport, the cut just became too much for him to make. His last outing against Neil Magny at UFC 207 saw Hendricks miss weight again at 173.5lbs, and that was the final straw that forced his move to the middleweight division.
Johny will have his hands full in his middleweight debut as he will meet one of the scariest fighters in the sport, Hector Lombard. With only another day of weight cutting to go, and only 2lbs left, Hendricks looks to finally be in a comfortable place in regards to his weight cut.
Check out the early reports coming out of Halifax.
Weight update: Johny Hendricks just told me at #UFCHalifax media day he weighs 188 pounds right now. Must be 186 tomorrow morning.
