Bethe Correia Says Unfinished Business with Ronda Rousey Will Probably Go Unsettled

Two years ago, at UFC 190, UFC bantamweight Bethe Correia faced a swift 34 second knockout to former champion Ronda Rousey. It would appear the Correia is not too happy with the result, as she believes the two have unfinished business.

In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Correia discussed the chances of Rousey returning to the octagon. Rousey his currently riding a two fight losing streak and UFC President Dana White admitted that the former champion will likely not return.

“I really didn’t know how Ronda would return,” Correia told MMA Fighting. “I think she had the skills to fight Amanda (Nunes) and win, but I didn’t know how she would be. A fight is not just about what you train, half of the fight is your head. You can have the best camp or your life but you’re not mentally there, nothing works.”

Rousey was most recently defeated bby Amanda Nunes at UFC 207.

Correia went on to say,

“I’m her rival, I’m her enemy in the sport and in the personal area for everything that happened between us, but even enemies respect each other. The way she lost, I felt what she felt. It was similar to what I went through, a sub-minute loss, being caught in a way that you lose control.

“The same criticism she had to face I had to deal with, too. Being called an arrogant, that you bit your tongue. People said she was never that good, like people said about me. I felt that. I know I could have done better against Ronda, and I know Ronda could have done better against Amanda.”

Correia ended the conversation by mentioning that they still have unfinished business.

“I hope she would come back because I want a rematch with her. We have unfinished business, things to settle. But I believe she won’t come back. I always said she was too vain and wasn’t mentally strong to lose. I think he vanity was an issue against Amanda. She thought she could go back and trade with her. She’s too vain to accept the defeat and start over. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll have the rematch, but I’d love that.”

Correia is set to face Marion Reneau at tonight’s UFC Fight Night 106.
