“The Count” is seemingly growing impatient with Georges St-Pierre, as he has now given the former welterweight champion an ultimate.
UFC Middleweight Champion Michael “The Count” Bisping is set to fight Georges St-Pierre at an undecided date. For Bisping, it needs to be international fight week.
In a recent edition of the champion’s new podcast Believe You Me, Bisping explained his impatience. He’s now considering a fight with contender Yoel Romero.
In the segment, Bisping said
“The UFC want July 8. They said they doubt that is going to happen.” Bisping explained.
“It looks like GSP is trying to push for a later date. I heard rumors of that a while ago from Ariel Helwani. I heard that he wanted like September or October and that’s what UFC told me as well. But, I’m just throwing it out there right now. If he wants to wait until September or October, then he can go find himself another opponent, because I call the shots. Without sounding like an [expletive], it’s my belt. I’m the champion and I’m not willing to sit around until September or October. This fight was discussed in January.”
While Bisping is looking to get it on July 8, he did admit that he will be a little flexible.
“July 8th is the date. I will be a little bit flexible and maybe go past that a little bit, but I want to fight international fight week.”
That being said, Bisping has other plans if St-Pierre won’t be ready for international fight week.
“If he’s not ready, then I guess Yoel Romero gets his title shot.”
