Bantamweight champion Tonya Evinger faced Yana Kunitskaya in a title fight grudge rematch in tonight’s Invicta FC 22 main event.
After their previous bout was brought to a no contest, due to a referee error, each warrior was looking to definitely prove their worth for the bantamweight belt.
In the first round, Evinger immediately shot for a takedown, ultimately smashing Kunitskaya against the fence. Evinger responded with a headlock that quickly transitioned into a guillotine choke. Evinger was forced to the mat, as both warriors struggled for dominance on the ground.
Kunitskaya switched from toe hold to heel hook, trying to submit the champion. Evinger rained blows upon Kunitskaya, as she transitioned to the top position. Evinger ended the first five minutes with a few final blows from the top position.
Evinger quickly rushed Kunitskaya to the fence in the second round, only for Kunitskaya to land a trip on her opponent.
Kunitskaya managed to drag Evinger to the ground, sinking in another headlock. The champion was able to squeeze out of the hold and rain down some more blows from the top position.
After a minute of struggling on the mat, the champion was able to take the back of Kunitskaya. Sinking in a tight rear-naked choke, Evinger forced the tap for her opponent, ensuring her Invicta championship.
