Mark Hunt and Alistair Overeem kicked off the main card portion of “UFC 209” with a back-and-forth heavyweight battle that had fans and fighters alike sitting on the edge of their seats. Everybody knew a knockout could take place at any given moment, but very few people would place a wager that they would make it to the final round.
With his back to the fence, Hunt was trapped between a rock and a hard place when Overeem cornered him. A stiff left and a couple of knees later, Hunt slammed down to the canvas face first and the fight was waved off. Overeem had won by knockout in brutal fashion, and Hunt left the octagon before he could even be interviewed.
