Khabib Nurmagomedov has been preparing himself for one of the biggest fights of his career until all of his momentum came to a sudden halt. On Friday morning, Nurmagomedov was taken to the hospital just hours before the early weigh-ins kicked off.
While other fighters were tipping the scales and making their fights official, Nurmagomedov was dealing with complications from the night before at the Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center. Khabib was taken to the hospital on Thursday evening due to issues with his weight cut, and he was ultimately ruled unfit to fight by doctors leading to the co-main event’s cancelation.
The interim lightweight championship bout with Tony Ferguson had major implications as the winner was expected to meet Conor McGregor in his return fight. However, instead of waiting to see who his fighter would be unifying the titles with, Conor’s coach John Kavanagh is simply waiting to see what’s happening at “UFC 209”.
