Nunes Keeps It #100 — ‘I wanted to laugh every time I punched Ronda’s face’

“It was a 10-year old dream coming true. Surreal. It’s hard to explain, you just have to live it. It was perfect to walk out of the cage with my belt. It felt so good, you know? Every punch on that face made me want to want to laugh, but I kept myself together. It was great. When I was at UFC 198, in Curitiba, I promised all fans I would take the belt from Miesha Tate, defend it against Ronda and bring the belt to Brazil. I sure want to be in Brazil more often. I left Brazil too early in my career. I had to focus on my career to achieve my goal. Now that the dream has come true, I want to share this wonderful moment with the Brazilian fans. I want to defend my belt here. I want to fight Valentina Shevchenko in Brazil. I already defeated her once. It would be perfect for UFC 212. I also plan to open a gym only for women.”

Talking to Brazil’s Combate, UFC bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes discussed her crushing first round victory over Ronda Rousey. And, she didn’t hold back.
