UFC Lightweight Conor McGregor and boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. have been doing what they can to pull together an epic cross-promotional bout for what will likely be a huge payday for both fighters. Now, some people believe there is too much money on the line for the fight to not come to fruition. Now, UFC President Dana White can be counted among them.
In a recent interview with X17 Online Video, White provided some insight into the potential bout. After confirming that he believes the fight will happen, the president explained when he believes it will go down.
“I don’t know, probably not for a while. But, I believe it will happen. There is too much money involved for it to not happen.”
White was then asked if he believes the fight is as one sided as some believe, not giving the UFC champion a chance at winning the potential bout.
“The great thing about fights, is you never know who’s going to win. Believe me, there’s a lot of weekends that we put on fights, and I think people are not going to win, and they do. That’s the crazy thing about the fight business. If it was guaranteed that Floyd was going to win this fight, why would you pay for it? There are no guarantees. Conor is 27, Floyd is 40. Conor’s the bigger, stronger guy. He’s got knockout power. It’s an interesting fight.” White said.
