Alistair Overeem may go down in mixed martial arts history as one of the most decorated strikers to ever grace the mats as a heavyweight. As if his vicious knockout highlight-reel did not speak for itself, Overeem has several championships to his name including the K1 Grand Prix World Championship. “The Reem” has learned that he cannot just get by with his striking alone inside the octagon, however, and he is always working hard to improve on the mats.
Overeem was recently promoted to a blue belt for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu! The Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight has his sights set on the heavyweight championship once again, and he will need every bit of help to secure it in such a stacked weight class. Check out Overeem getting his blue belt below:
“Great day today! Got promoted to blue at @valentebrothers @pedrovalentevb @joaquimvalente #continueswork #humble #workinprogress #alwaysimproving”
Overeem recently sent Mark Hunt crashing to the canvas in the third round of their meeting at “UFC 209” earlier this year. Do you think “The Reem” will score another shot at the gold by year’s end, or will he continue to claw his way up the rankings?
