Bellator 178 went down last night with rising challenger and former champion Patricio Freire submitting Daniel Straus for a quick victory. Tapping out the reigning champion in the second round, Freire and Straus have now faced off inside the cage on four occasions.
While Patricio Freire excitedly regained the featherweight title in the night’s main event, there was also a notable moment of excitement within one of the event’s welterweight matchups.
Welterweight competitors Nick Alley and Kastriot Xhema battled it out during the night, with the bout ultimately going the distance. By unanimous decision, Kastriot Xhema took home a victory over his opponent.
But, before the decision was called, Xhema landed a vicious elbow to Nick Alley. After felling his opponent to the mat with a powerful strike, Xhema followed through by dropping an elbow to his head. The powerful strike can be seen below.
