Gustafsson Offers To Be Jon Jones’ Tune Up Fight

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones is only a few months away from eligibility in the UFC promotion. With the fighter growing closer to title contention, fighters have begun calling out the former champion.

Jon Jones was pulled from UFC 200 due to an anti-doping policy violation. For the violation, Jones was suspended for one year. Now, the fighter is expected to be eligible to compete in the Ultimate Fighting Championship again later this summer.

With Anthony “Rumble” Johnson having recently retired, fighter Alexander Gustafsson has risen to the No. 1 ranking in the light heavyweight division.

Now, the top contender has called out Jon Jones. In an interview with Champions.co, Gustafsson explained that he would gladly take on Jon Jones if he wanted to face someone, before taking a shot at the title. “One-hundred percent—if Jones wants a welcome party back to the UFC, then I’m happy to do that. Let’s see what happens, you know. It’s exciting times for the light heavyweight division.”

“The title shot is a big goal for everyone in the sport, but for me, the opportunity to beat Jones is almost the same thing,” He said.
