UFC welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal is set to face off against Demian Maia at UFC 211 on May 13. With the No. 5 ranked welterweight getting ready to throw down with another top five division ranked contender, both fighters are looking to get a step closer to a title shot.
However, Jorge Masvidal is a known teammate to fellow American Top Team member and welterweight champion Tyron Woodley. Masvidal recently took part in an interview with UFC Tonight to clear the air on what will happen if he is ever scheduled to face the champion.
As transcribed by FOX Sports, Masvidal explained that the two fighters would likely have no issue facing each other.
“We’re both good friends, I get along just fine with Woodley. He’s actually shown me secrets in the past and I’ve worked with him in the past to help him get ready for fights. So there’s no hard feelings if me and him have to scrap.” He said.
Doubling down on his point of view, Masvidal explained “Just like I said before, I’m LeBron [James] and he’s Dwayne Wade and we split up teams, we meet at the finals, we’re going to sit out because we were teammates at one point? Hell no! I’m here to get this money. I got kids to feed.”
