Many fans and fighters alike were left with their heads spinning after UFC 210’s main event came to a close. While the title fight rematch was exciting enough, the real shock came from Anthony “Rumble” Johnson’s post-fight announcement.
No. 1 light heavyweight contender “Rumble” Johnson announced his retirement after being defeated by champion Daniel Cormier for the second time at UFC 210. With the KO artist arguably being at the top of his game, the announcement has left many perplexed.
Former UFC commentator and friend to many in the industry, Mike Goldberg has provided his take on the situation. “Making a living isn’t life, lifelong friendships are what we love for, my bond w @Anthony_Rumble is unbreakable, built on all that is right!” Golberg said over Twitter.
Mike Goldberg’s final ringside appearance working under the UFC banner was at UFC 207. The release of the commentating veteran was one of many changes to come with the recent sale of the UFC.
