Real UFC Judge Aids Cop In Arrest Of Knife Weilding Attacker

Back in 2015, UK police officer Rich Farrar approached Dean Edwards, after reports suggested suspicious activity from the 28-year-old. As reported by mixedmartialarts.com, Farrar searched the man after he had become “verbally aggressive and confrontational.”

During the pat down search, Dean Edwards attempted to lurch backwards, but was taken to the ground by the police officer. While the knife thankfully never entered the equation, Edwards was wielding a large knife in the back of his pants.

After the knife fell to the ground, the two men struggled. The officer had no backup, creating a dangerous situation for both men. Then Andy Haigh, a 49-year-old professional judge of mixed martial arts, decided to enter the scene.

The MMA judge, and trained martial artist, assisted the officer in restraining Dean Edwards by placing the man in a rear-naked choke submission. Andy Haigh has judged two UFC Fight Night events in the UK.
