Ultimate Fighting Championship legend Mauricio “Shogun” Rua was a star the moment he stepped into the octagon. His wars around the world in PRIDE helped his stock before he ever fought for the UFC, but his first fight with Forrest Griffin in 2007 was a back and forth fight that took everybody by surprise. Despite suffering a loss in his first outing, “Shogun” would go on to become one of the most popular fighters the UFC’s light heavyweight division has seen and he is still throwing down to this day.
“Shogun” proved that PRIDE Never Dies when he sent Gian Villante to the canvas earlier this year at UFC Fight Night: Belfort vs. Gastelum in March with a flurry of strikes that won him the scrap in round three. “Shogun” looks as good as ever inside the octagon, and he takes second fiddle when he sits next to his wife!
