The UFC has been mucked up in a string of lawsuits as of late. Most recently, the promotion has managed to delay things for another moment.
As reported by MMA Mania, The promotion is currently tangled in legal matters concerning a group of former UFC fighters who are challenging the UFC in court. Claiming that the promotion has a monopoly on the sport of mixed martial arts, the fighters are seeking compensatory measures.
As part of the case, the UFC has asked the courts to subpoena competing promotion Bellator MMA.
As a response, Bellator MMA has issued a suit of its own against the UFC. The lawsuit is looking to halt the UFC from gaining control of various Bellator MMA documentation.
The proceedings began in Las Angeles, Calif. But, U.S. Magistrate Judge Rozella Oliver has ruled in favor of the UFC. Now, the case will be moved to the U.S. District Court of Nevada.
With Nevada being the central location of many of the UFC’s dealings, some have come to believe that this will create a “home field advantage” for the company.
