“The Axe Murderer” Wanderlei Silva is preparing himself for one of the biggest fights of his mixed martial arts career as he wants to show the world that he still has what it takes to headline events. Silva will be stepping into the cage with rival Chael Sonnen at “Bellator: NYC” on June 24, 2017.
The fight is slated to headline the pay-per-view event which will air live from Madison Square Garden. Their rivalry kicked off when Sonnen, in much similar fashion to Michael Bisping now in the UFC, was on the top of his game and weight class just putting everybody that crossed his path on blast.
It did not matter if you were one weight class above him or two below him; Sonnen would have found a reasonable excuse to verbally assault you. Silva did not take too kindly to this and the two ultimately ended up co-hosting a season of “The Ultimate Fighter”.
They broke out into a brawl at the beginning of the season and it wasn’t long before the fight was scrapped. Silva and Sonnen have both been training hard and hopefully, they will prove that they still have what it takes to outshine the talent of today. Silva took to the mats and actually got worked by one of his training partners and you can watch it all play out below:
