UFC 210 went down with light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier sinking in a title defense against KO artist Anthony “Rumle” Johnson. The champion submitted his opponent in the second round, with a finish reminiscent of their bout at UFC 187.
Directly after submitting Johnson, Cormier made sure to take advantage of the moment. The champion pointed out rising contender Jimi Manuwa and former champion Jon Jones from the crowd and made sure they knew that he is champion.
With Jimi Manuwa ranked at No. 3 in the division and Jon Jones just months away from eligibility in the promotion, Daniel Cormier has two high caliber athletes vying for his belt. Of course, Cormier and Jones have a history.
With that in mind, ESPN journalist Brett Okamoto has reported that UFC President Dana White has offered to clear the air. “As I mentioned on @SportsCenter, per Dana White, UFC ready to grant Jon Jones title shot July 29. If Jones wants tuneup, it’s DC vs. Manuwa.” Okamoto said.
