Former boxing world champion James Toney fought for the last time on Saturday night.
While most of the combat sport’s world had their eyes on UFC 211, the legendary boxer stepped into the ring for, what he says, is the final time.
Toney defeated Mike Sheppard by TKO in the sixth round of their 12-round fight.
After defeating Sheppard, Toney was awarded the WBF heavyweight title. Toney has won many boxing titles in his illustrious career, including titles in the middleweight, cruiserweight, and light heavyweight divisions.
Toney is also well known for his one-fight stint in the UFC. In 2010, Toney was brave enough to step into the UFC cage and fight former UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture. Despite his bravery, Toney did not last long in the fight. The former boxing champion was submitted in the first round.
