After Fight With Dillashaw, Garbrandt Calls For Flyweight Title Fight

UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt has plans to move to the flyweight division.

After defending his title against former UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw, Garbrandt wants to move down to 125 pounds and fight UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson.

Garbrandt was scheduled to defend his championship against Dillashaw at UFC 213 on July 8. However, a back injury forced him to withdraw from the fight.

On a recent episode of The MMA Hour, Garbrandt said he wants to defend his title against Dillashaw and then move down to the flyweight division.

“I want to go down and fight Demetrious,” Garbrandt said. “That’s my goal. I’ve talked to Demetrious numerous times and that’s my goal after the TJ fight.”

Garbrandt went on to say he could easily cut down to 125 pounds. He said he doesn’t need to cut weight in order to make the bantamweight limit of 135 pounds.

Garbrandt says he plans to fight Dillashaw as soon as possible. If his injury heals quickly, he would like to fight Johnson before the end of 2017.
