During Friday’s UFC Summer Kickoff Press Conference, the UFC announced UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes will defend her title against Valentina Shevchenko on July 8 at UFC 213.
After the press conference, the two women squared off and went face to face. Nunes put her fist up when she posed with Shevchenko, but her pose then turned into an actual punch.
At first, Nunes just slightly touched Shevchenko’s face with her closed fist when the two were squaring off. However, Nunes quickly became aggressive and punched Shevchenko forcing the two fighters to be separated by security.
Nunes will defend her title for the second time when she fights Shevchenko. The two fought back in March 2016 at UFC 196. On that night, Nunes won a decision against Shevchenko. It was this win that earned Nunes her shot at the UFC title.
