Malki Kawa, the manager of former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones, says Jones has signed an agreement to fight UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier.
Jones is expected to fight Cormier at UFC 214 on July 29 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Kawa said, while appearing on The Luke Thomas Show, Jones signed the deal to fight Cormier and they will be turning it in shortly.
Jones was scheduled to fight Cormier for the light heavyweight title last July at UFC 200. However, just days before the fight was supposed to take place, Jones tested positive for a banned substance and was removed from the fight.
After failing his drug test, Jones received a one-year suspension. Jones’ suspension will expire in July.
Jones has not fought in the UFC for over a year. He last fought in April 2016 when he won an interim title by defeating Ovince Saint Preux. He was later stripped of the interim title.
Malki Kawa says the contract for Jon Jones to fight Daniel Cormier is signed and will be turned in short order.
