Justin Buchholz, the head coach of Team Alpha Male, recently broke down a potential title fight between UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and former UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt.
Buchholz talked about the fight while appearing on the Stud Radio show on Tuesday.
“I think at 125 (pounds) Demetrious is going to have the advantage in that fight all the way around,” Buchholz said.
“It would be rough. He says he can make 125 easily, and he probably could, but I don’t think he was the most concussive puncher at 135 pounds and I feel like the power could mean even more but the speed would be the same. So you have someone like Demetrious, who can crack, and is fast, and has made his home in this division. This would just not be a good idea. I say DJ would have all the advantages going into that fight.”
Buchholz was at one time a coach of Dillashaw’s. He coached Dillashaw when he won the UFC bantamweight title.
Dillashaw has been campaigning for a title fight against Johnson since his last scheduled title fight was canceled.
Dillashaw was scheduled to fight UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt at UFC 213 on July 8. However, a back injury forced Garbrandt to withdraw from the fight.
UFC President Dana White recently said the UFC wants Dillashaw to fight Johnson for the flyweight title in August. However, Johnson has no interest in fighting Dillashaw due to Dillashaw not having any fights as a flyweight. Instead, Johnson wants to fight Ray Borg, who is a top contender in the division.
