UFC welterweight contender Demain Maia says he has not been guaranteed a title shot if he wins his next fight.
On Saturday, at UFC 211, Maia is scheduled to fight fellow contender Jorge Masvidal.
“No, they didn’t say nothing,” Maia said when asked if the UFC promised him a title shot with another win.
Maia went on to say he doesn’t want to think too much about a title fight because he doesn’t want to be distracted going into his fight with Masvidal.
Maia is currently on a six-fight win streak. He is coming off a submission win over Carlos Condit back in August. His win streak also includes notable wins over Matt Brown, Gunnar Nelson, and Neil Magny.
Masvidal could also earn himself a title shot if he wins on Saturday. He is on a three-fight win streak. In his last two fights, he defeated Jake Ellenberger and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone by TKO.
