Former UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta recently talked about issues with fighter pay.
“I’m proud of what we paid fighters,” Fertitta said about the issue of fighter pay in the UFC.
“My dream is? I can’t wait until we can pay a fighter $1 million to fight,” Fertitta said he told Dana White when he first purchased the UFC back in 2001.
Fertitta later said that the UFC is the “ultimate place for capitalism.” He said ultimately all fighters are paid what they are worth. Fertitta also said that they only fighters that complain about their pay are the fighters “who never made it.”
Claims have been made in the past that the UFC pays their athletes less than 10 percent of their total revenue. Fertitta claims that the UFC actually pays their fighters closer to 50 percent.
In the video below, you can hear Fertitta’s entire interview regarding fighter pay and the UFC being a monopoly.
