Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir and former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen are scheduled to compete against each other in September.
The two UFC veterans are scheduled to compete in a grappling match at the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) Federation World Event this September in Finland.
Sonnen, who owns his own grappling promotion Submission Underground, was originally going to face Ricardo Liborio at the event. However, Liborio suffered an injury and will not be able to compete.
Before he takes on Mir, Sonnen has another major MMA fight coming up. At Bellator MMA: NYC on June 24, Sonnen will fight longtime rival Wanderlei Silva. This fight will headline Bellator’s first event to take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Mir is currently serving a two-year suspension from the UFC after testing positive for a banned substance following his last fight. Mir last fought in March 2016 when he lost to Mark Hunt.
