Middleweight contender Gegard Mousasi has agreed to re-sign with the UFC.
On Thursday, Ariel Helwani, of MMA Fighting, confirmed that Mousasi and the UFC have agreed on a contract. He also said to expect the UFC, or Mousasi, to make an official announcement sometime next week.
Mousasi is on a five-fight win streak in the UFC. He is coming off a TKO win over former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman. Mousasi’s win streak also includes victories over Thales Leites, Thiago Santos, Uriah Hall, and Vitor Belfort.
With his impressive win streak, Mousasi has become one of the top title contenders in the UFC middleweight division.
This week, UFC President Dana White announced the promotion may make an interim title due to UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping being injured. While Yoel Romero and Robert Whittaker were named as possible contenders, Mousasi’s name should also be considered for a championship opportunity.
That’s resolved. Expect to hear next week that he's officially back. https://t.co/TTjQStdXbl
