MMA referee Herb Dean released a chart to help explain to fans the course of action when a fighter is fouled.
Dean has recently received criticism for how he handled the fight between former UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier last Saturday at UFC 211 in Dallas, Texas.
The fight ended in the second round after Alvarez hit Poirier with multiple illegal knees while Poirier was on the ground.
Since Dean didn’t believe Alvarez knew he was throwing illegal shots, Dean ruled the fight as a no contest.
Many fans have claimed that the fight should have been a disqualification win for Poirier. The chart, Dean posted on Twitter, shows people Dean’s thought process and why the fight was ruled a no contest.
