Jon Jones Talks Latest Scuffle With D.C. — ‘He hit me right in the face’

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is currently gearing up for its packed summer events lineup. In anticipation for the packed showcase, the mixed martial arts promotion held the UFC Summer Kickoff Press Conference yesterday.

For the event, some of the summer’s largest fighters join the show for questions and a quick staredown with their opponents. Among them, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones and reigning champion Daniel Cormier joined the show.

The bad blood between the two rivals began to boil during the event, leading to some intense trash talking and a near physical confrontation. In an interview with UFC on FOX, Jon Jones explained that more happened behind the scenes.

Jon Jones explained that backstage the two fighters shared a few words. After Daniel Cormier commented on Jones’ haircut, the former champion asked Cormier how he was going to explain being champion without having beaten Jon Jones to his children.

“He stood up, threw a water bottle and hit me right in the face with it.” Jones said about the reigning champion.
