Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones says the current top fighters in the UFC have not reached his level.
Jones talked about the current state of the UFC while in Dallas, Texas for UFC 211. Jones was in Dallas to be a part of the UFC Summer Kick Off Press Conference, where his next fight against UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier was confirmed.
Jones said positive things about UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor, former champion Ronda Rousey, and UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson, but he also said none of them have reached his level of success in the UFC.
“I was not very dominant in my last fight (against Ovince St-Preux), it was a unanimous decision, but it was fun. I think I’m, along with Demetrious Johnson, the best fighter in the UFC,” Jones said.
“I’m happy for successful people like Conor McGregor, Demetrious Johnson, Ronda Rousey, but while I’m happy for them, I still believe that none of them have reached the level I’ve achieved in the organization. It’s a fact. If we later ask ourselves who was the best in this sport, I would say I will be close to being considered the best.”
