UFC women’s bantamweight contender Julianna Pena wants to compete on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter.
Earlier this month, the UFC announced the next season of TUF will feature women competing at 125 pounds. The winner of the competition will be awarded the inaugural UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship.
Pena won the first season of TUF to feature women. She wants to be on the show again in order to become flyweight champion.
“I was asking Dana (White) if I could get back in the house and have a crack at that belt finally,” Pena said on a recent episode of TUF Talk. “I fought at (125 pounds) a couple of times in my career so it’s not hard for me to make the weight. I walk naturally around 135 (pounds), a couple pounds heavier, so making 125 is not a problem for me.
“I think I would steamroll all the girls at 125 pounds but then again I’ve kind of got that big head thing going on.”
Since winning TUF, Pena has become one of the top women’s bantamweight fighters in the world. She has won four of her five UFC fights. Her UFC career includes wins over Jessica Eye and former title challenger Cat Zingano.
