UFC veteran Kenny Florian was furious over UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Germaine de Randamie refusing to fight Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino.
Last week, De Randamie’s manager revealed the champion did not want to fight Justino because of her past use of performance enhancing drugs. Her manager also said De Randamie would rather be stripped of the title than have to fight Justino.
On a recent episode of Jon Anik and Kenny Florian’s podcast, Florian ranted about De Randamie refusing to defend her championship against Justino.
“She never wanted to fight “Cyborg”,” Florian said. “Listen you’re the champion, and if she’s an eligible fighter, you have to fight her. What is going on with all these champions saying ‘they don’t want to fight this guy’.”
Florian then went on to discuss how De Randamie is different from other fighters who prefer to fight bigger names instead of top contenders in order to improve their legacy or make more money.
“When Germaine de Randamie has the opportunity to fight one of the most dominant, or perhaps the most dominant, mixed martial arts female fighter of all time and cement her legacy as champion, you have to take that fight,” Florian said.
