Former UFC title challenger Rory MacDonald is enjoying his time as a fighter for Bellator MMA.
“Basically, I’ve just been more in touch with the promoters,” MacDonald said during the Bellator 179 conference call.
“You know, giving my outlook on things, how I want things to go when it comes to the promotion of myself. You know, just more involved rather than just being another guy in the line, another number or another sheep. So I just feel more respected. There’s more attention to detail when it comes to the promotion of myself.”
MacDonald will make his long awaited Bellator debut on Friday, May 19 when he fights Paul Daley in the main event of Bellator 179.
MacDonald has not fought in almost a year. He last fought in June when he lost a decision to Stephen Thompson.
Despite leaving the UFC on a loss, MacDonald is still one of the top welterweight fighters in the world. His resume includes wins over some of the top welterweight in the UFC, including UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley and top contender Demian Maia.
