Boxing phenom Oscar De La Hoya recently made a point to protest the chance of Floyd Mayweather Jr. meeting UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor inside of a boxing ring. Now fellow boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard has decided to provide his opinion of the potential matchup.
In a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, as transcribed by Bloody Elbow, Sugar Ray Leonard explained:
“To boxing purists, it’s garbage. But, to just fans in general, it’s the fight of a lifetime. Because there’s a mixture of… Let me put it this way: If they box, who wins? Mayweather wins. If they ‘fight’ fight, McGregor wins.”
