Former UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier have agreed to once again fight each other.
On Saturday, at UFC 211, Alvarez and Poirier fought in an exciting back-and-forth brawl. However, the fight stopped in the second round when Alvarez threw multiple illegal knees. After the knees had landed, Poirier was not able to continue.
However, since the referee believed Alvarez did not know he was throwing illegal knees, the fight was ruled a no contest.
Shortly after the fight, Poirier went to Twitter to challenge the former champion. On Tuesday, Alvarez accepted his challenge.
Even the UFC Twitter page agreed that the two lightweight contenders needed to fight again.
“Next fight is You ? … don’t get too excited Your not the first guy to hurt me badly before I finished him ..knee or no knee U wanted out,” Alvarez tweeted at Poirier.
Yo @Ealvarezfight we have to run it back.
