Reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight champion Amanda “Lioness” Nunes has garnered quite the following the Los Angeles, California. Now, the UFC bantamweight champion has her own day in the city.
Reporter Josie Huang recently took to Twitter to provide the announcement. Over Twitter, Huang stated “LA just declared it ‘Amanda ‘The Lioness’ Nunes Day’ after UFC champ who knocked out Ronda Rousey. Councilmember Bonin professed fandom.”
Amanda “Lioness” Nunes earned her first title defense victory against former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. The two fighters squared off at UFC 207. Nunes earned a first round technical knockout victory over her opponent.
Now, Amanda Nunes is gearing up for her next title defense. The champion is set to face off against Valentina Shevchenko. The title fight rematch goes down on July 8 inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada at UFC 213.
