In MMA every pound matters. That’s why there are weight classes based on 10-pound increments and fighters are fined if they weigh in a pound over the weight limit.
However, during a kickboxing match in China, there were no weight limits when Choi Hong-man, who stands over seven feet tall and weighs over 350 pounds, fought Zhou Zhi Peng, who stands 5’8 and weighed 158 pounds.
Last November, the two went toe-to-toe. Peng had a good game plan for the fight. He moved around often and picked his shot intelligently. After three rounds of fighting, Peng went on to win by decision.
Choi Hong-man has quite the resume in the world of combat sports. In kickboxing, he has wins over sumo legend Akebono, former WWE superstar Sylvester Terkay, and UFC veteran Gary Goodridge. In MMA, he competed in a losing effort against MMA legends Fedor Emelianenko and Mirko Cro Cop.
