On Saturday, at UFC 211, Demian Maia is scheduled to fight Jorge Masvidal in a fight that could determine who gets the next shot at the UFC welterweight title.
On Wednesday, the UFC released a video of commentator Joe Rogan breaking down the pivotal fight in the welterweight division.
“At 170 pounds, there is a long list of very talented contenders. At the top of that list are Jorge Masvidal and Demian Maia,” Rogan said. “Demian Maia has been at the top of the heap for a long time now and has patiently waiting for his title shot.”
Maia is on a six-fight win streak. He is coming off two consecutive submission wins over Matt Brown and Carlos Condit. His win streak also includes wins over Gunnar Nelson and Neil Magny.
Masvidal is on a three-fight win streak. He is coming off TKO wins over Jake Ellenberger and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.
