At UFC 211, Rodriguez fought former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar. For two rounds, Edgar pummeled Rodriguez forcing his right eye to completely swell shut. In between the second and third rounds, the referee and doctor agreed the fight should be stopped.
