Vitor Belfort Wants To Fight For Bellator

Gustavo Lacerda, the manager of Vitor Belfort, says Belfort is interested in going to Bellator MMA.

On June 3, at UFC 212, Belfort will fight Nate Marquardt in his last UFC fight. However, Belfort has announced he would like to still compete in the sport after he leaves the promotion.

While doing an interview on the MMA Ganhador podcast, Lacerda said Belfort is interested in fighting Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen. In order to do that, Belfort would have to join Bellator MMA.

“What I think it’s possible to imagine is: what does the MMA fan wants?” Lacerda said (translated by MMA Fighting). “He wants to see Vitor vs. Wanderlei (Silva), wants to see Vitor vs. (Chael) Sonnen. He wants these type of fights. And it’s the type of fights that interests us. Vitor doesn’t need to prove anything regarding to ranking or title. The idea is to have fights that are interesting. Interest the fans, and interest the fighter.”

Sonnen will fight Silva in the main event of Bellator: NYC on June 24. The event will air live on pay-per-view and will be the first Bellator event to take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
