Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Conor “Notorious” McGregor has been attempting to piece together a career high payday performance. In doing so, the champion has been taking some time away from the UFC.
During his time away from the mixed martial arts fighting promotion, Conor McGregor has been attempting to set up a boxing match with undefeated striking phenom Floyd Mayweather Jr. In fact, it would appear that the bout nearly came to fruition just recently.
UFC President Dana White was recently in attendance for last night’s epic boxing event of Canelo Alvarez vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. During the event, White took part in an interview with Fight Hub TV. In the interview, the president admitted that a date was nearly set for McGregor vs. Mayweather.
“We just lost our date to Canelo and GGG, but that’s a good fight. I’ll be at that one too!” White said, explaining that McGregor vs. Mayweather was apparently set to face off at the allotted time.
