It would appear that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will not be greeting one of its female strawweight prospects quite as soon as expected.
As reported by MMA Fighting, UFC strawweight Amanda Ribas has been placed on a temporary suspension. The fighter was placed on the suspension by the Nevada Athletic Commission for testing positive for the banned substance ostarine.
The fighter has been removed from her UFC debut bout against Juliana Lima at The Ultimate Fighter finale on July 7.
Riba’s released a statement concerning the positive testing.
“I’m completely against any form of cheating in sports, as the use of PEDs. During my whole career I have never made use of any illegal substance, and I did not use anything now. I have no idea as to the origin of my positive test with USADA. I am working with USADA along with my managers and trainers to find out how this happened. I will prove my innocence, I will fight in the UFC and I will become UFC champ!” She stated.
