There is one MMA move UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor will be able to use in his upcoming boxing match against Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
For the most part, McGregor will be out of his element when he’s competing in his first professional boxing match. However, one MMA technique that is legal in the sport of boxing is the Superman punch.
Stephen Espinoza, the executive vice president of Showtime Sports, talked about the possibility of seeing a Superman punch in McGregor’s boxing debut.
“That’s well within the rules. A back fist probably wouldn’t be, but there is a lot of different things that can be thrown to throw off timing,” Espinoza said. “I can guarantee Floyd has never seen someone coming and throwing a Superman punch.”
Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Saturday, August 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
